Duties & Responsibilities- Oversees and assists with the setup, service and breakdown of events, ensuring that all aspects run smoothly.
- Greets and welcomes guests, assists with seating and food service.
- Responsible for assisting with the set‑up, service and clean‑up of all assigned banquet functions; sometimes multiple events in a day.
- Coordinates orders and table service.
- Serves food and beverages to guests efficiently, ensuring proper presentation and timing.
- Works collaboratively with the Event Planning team to ensure exceptional customer service.
- Addresses any unexpected changes such as increases in attendees, changes in dietary restrictions and staffing adjustments.
- Acts as a point of contact for the client and/or host; addresses and resolves client complaints.
- Anticipates potential issues during events and proactively resolves them.
- Assists in the training and mentoring of food service staff.
- Monitors and maintains banquet supplies.
- Ensures all supplies are in good working condition before each event and requests replacements as necessary.
- Ensures safe handling of food and sanitation of equipment.
- Handles customer complaints promptly and works to find a resolution.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of customer service, catering operations and safe food service practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to move/transport up to 50 pounds.
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
- Experience with high volume off‑site catering in a University setting.
