Under the close clinical supervision of a licensed mental health professional, this position offers individual, group, and family therapy, working collaboratively with each youth’s Child and Family Team. This role centers on advocacy, empowerment, and helping youth build the skills necessary to lead healthy, effective lives. While clinical guidance is closely provided, the position operates with limited traditional supervision and has no supervisory responsibilities.

This is a full-time, classified position and will require working some evening and
weekend hours.
Minimum Qualifications
A Master’s degree in a behavioral health related field and at least two (2) years of post-master’s professional work experience working with youth providing mental health, and/or family therapy.
Required to be Licensed Associate Counselor, Marriage and Family therapist or Master’s level Social Worker through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners or applicable equivalent as approved by the Juvenile Court’s Director of Therapeutic Services.
Preference may be given to those fluent in both English and Spanish.
Preference may be given to applicants that have two (2) years of experience providing direct therapy to youth ages 8-17.
Within three (3) years of hire must become independently licensed through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners or applicable equivalent as approved by the Juvenile Court’s Director of Therapeutic Services.
Employees failing to obtain independent licensure as required within three (3) years of hire may be terminated or demoted to an appropriate lower-level position if available in which they meet the minimum requirements.
Licensure related fees will be paid by the court.
Essential Duties & Functions
- This is an associate licensure level position in the Clinician job classification series. Incumbents are expected to apply the principles of current behavioral health practices and agency policies and procedures; establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of personnel contacted in the course of work; write clear, accurate and concise reports; maintain an objective and empathetic understanding of mental illness, emotional and behavioral disorders.
- Incumbents are expected to work toward achieving their independent licensure and assure appropriate clinical oversight of all their work.
- Conducts individual, group and family therapy with justice involved youth.
- Formulates treatment plans using evidence-based modalities and evaluates treatment outcomes for court involved youth.
- Facilitates family participation in the treatment process.
- Facilitates family engagement through an educational and support for family members of juvenile justice involved youth.
- Consults with staff and participates in the development of individual behavior plans for detained youth.
