- Abstract moderate to highly complex clinical data using established definitions and guidelines and maintain an abstracting volume to meet internal and external reporting deadlines.
- Perform clinical review of a medical record and summarize the findings to facilitate additional review.
- Reviews patient non-compliance lists and conducts outreach to ensure timely disease specific and wellness visits.
- Collects and tracks monthly, quarterly and annual process improvement measures.
- Conducts analysis of data in cooperation with the medical staff to assist in identification of improvement activities.
- Understands current issues, practices and trends in healthcare and communicates to employees as appropriate.
- Presents data collected in an organized format to facilitate analysis and identification of improvement opportunities.
- Provides documented reports of findings from data collection as requested.
- Provides education to medical staff members and hospital staff as appropriate to enhance performance and documentation.
Education: High school diploma/GED required with completion of Medical Assistant Program strongly preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years of clerical and customer service. Experience in health-related field and bilingual preferred.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of clinical workflows
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Systems
- Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes
Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, calculators, etc.
Work Environment: Position is in a well-lit office environment. Occasional evening and weekend work.

Physical Requirements:
Involves sitting approximately 75 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder, using computers and telephones.
