Position Highlights
The University of Arizona Thomas Boyer Liver Institute is seeking a Community Outreach Professional I for the Hepatitis C/B Treatment Program (HCTP). The position involves working with a team of doctors, nurses, and clinical care coordinators to enhance testing, linkage to care, and treatment services for patients with Hepatitis C/B.

Duties & Responsibilities- Aids in the coordination of and participates in off‑site community outreach activities to inform local social service organizations and other professional organizations of the services available for Hepatitis C/B financial assistance programs and screening initiatives.
- Assists the Director in developing collaborative relationships with community health centers and county health departments in southern Arizona and helps establish MOUs for screening and linkage to care.
- Provides support with Boyer Liver Institute initiatives and programs, exchanges information and resources with community programs, and serves as a resource to research staff.
- Supports the Hepatitis C/B screening program by creating resource packets for clinical care coordinators, confirming patient appointments, and sending reminders for lab work.
- Provides a program participation contract for every patient treated for Hepatitis C/B as part of the 340b and Boyer Liver Institute programs.
- Gathers information for the website specific to Hepatitis C/B treatment and patient education and prepares communication materials to promote the program.
- Assists in the coordination of the financial assistance program for Hepatitis C/B treatment for patients in need.
- Is knowledgeable about the prior authorization process for Hepatitis C/B treatment prescriptions for patients enrolled in the programs.
- Performs blood draws, as needed, for patients in the 340b and Boyer Liver Institute HEP C programs.
- Assists in preparing periodic reports on program activities under guidance from the Director.
- May assist with proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors as directed.
- Assists in developing screening tools to identify patients in need of services and oversees patient screening activities.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Knowledge of 340B rules and regulations and the Prior Authorization process.
- Skill in public speaking and outreach events.
- Knowledge navigating Intuit Mail Chimp for newsletters.
- Knowledge navigating social media platforms such as Facebook and X.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience.
- One (1) year of relevant work experience.
- Medical Assistant Certification.
- Clinic experience with HCV/HBV patient coordination/management.
- Experience with Banner medical records and scheduling system Quick Start 2.0 and UA website platform experience.
- Multilingual (English and Spanish).
