Radiology Tech PRN Rotating role at Carondelet Health Network
. This position summary describes the responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations for the role.
- Prepares and positions patients for x-rays and selects exposure factors accurately.
- Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity.
- Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
- Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
- Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
- Checks for accuracy of ordered exams by comparing to written physician order.
- Verifies correct patient by two forms of identity verification, prior to injecting patient or starting exam.
- Maintains patient confidentiality per established CHN policies regarding HIPAA rights and practices.
- Maintains proper oxygen therapy on patients who require oxygen; maintain skills required to change oxygen tanks. Must be able to use masks and nasal cannula; adjust rate of O2 flow with mask/nasal cannula according to written physician orders.
- Secures and safely transports e-cylinders.
- Accesses electronic patient health record via the current system; inputs and processes requisitions; inputs all relevant information and provides film/imaging history to physician, as appropriate.
- Expectations for operating room: manipulate/operate all C-arms, troubleshoot errors with equipment, perform sterile technique while operating C-arm, assist circulating RN as needed, print films from C-arm when needed, archive images to PACS from C-arm, set-up C-arm with patient information, position C-arm to surgeon specifications, locate and document patient dose.

Required:
Graduate of an accredited radiology program. - Certification —
Required:
ARRT-R (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) and AZ Medical Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (MRTBE) - Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT);
Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association. - Work Experience —
Required:
The experience acquired during radiology program and student clinical training.
