Radiology Tech PRN Rotating role at Carondelet Health Network
. This position summary describes the responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations for the role.

• Prepares and positions patients for x-rays and selects exposure factors accurately.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity.
• Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
• Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
• Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
• Checks for accuracy of ordered exams by comparing to written physician order.
• Verifies correct patient by two forms of identity verification, prior to injecting patient or starting exam.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per established CHN policies regarding HIPAA rights and practices.
• Maintains proper oxygen therapy on patients who require oxygen; maintain skills required to change oxygen tanks. Must be able to use masks and nasal cannula; adjust rate of O2 flow with mask/nasal cannula according to written physician orders.
• Secures and safely transports e-cylinders.
• Accesses electronic patient health record via the current system; inputs and processes requisitions; inputs all relevant information and provides film/imaging history to physician, as appropriate.
• Expectations for operating room: manipulate/operate all C-arms, troubleshoot errors with equipment, perform sterile technique while operating C-arm, assist circulating RN as needed, print films from C-arm when needed, archive images to PACS from C-arm, set-up C-arm with patient information, position C-arm to surgeon specifications, locate and document patient dose.

  Required:
  
  Graduate of an accredited radiology program.
• Certification —
  
  Required:
  
  ARRT-R (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) and AZ Medical Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (MRTBE) - Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT);
  
  Required:
  
  Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
• Work Experience —
  
  Required:
  
  The experience acquired during radiology program and student clinical training.
