General Summary: The Lead Speech Language Pathologist provides clinical leadership in the development and delivery of speech and language services. This role is responsible for building program structure, implementing evidence-based and neurodiverse-affirming practices, and ensuring children and families receive high-quality care. The Lead SLP collaborates across disciplines to strengthen integrated services and will support the future growth of feeding and expanded speech therapy programming.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Oversight

  • Supports the organization’s mission, goals and management decisions; promotes an evidence-based behaviorally informed model in program services.
  • Develops and implements the speech therapy program across clinic and academy settings, ensuring clinical quality, efficiency, and alignment with ABA principles.
  • Collaborates with ABA staff and interdisciplinary teams to align treatment goals and integrated care plans.
  • Provides clinical guidance and direction to SLP staff, including onboarding, supervision, and mentorship (if applicable).
  • Establishes and maintains program policies and clinical standards in coordination with leadership to ensure consistency, compliance, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Balances a direct treatment caseload with responsibilities for program development, training, consultation, and clinical oversight.
  • Participates in the recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, and retention of SLP staff to maintain a high-performing, collaborative team.
  • Creates and maintains speech trainings for SLPs and cross-disciplinary team members.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensures services comply with ASHA standards, state licensure, and funding requirements.
  • Monitors member progress to ensure treatment goals are effective, measurable, and outcome-driven.

Stakeholder and Community Engagement

  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with families, staff, and interdisciplinary team members to support collaborative care.
  • Acts as a liaison with external stakeholders (e.g., schools, community partners, medical providers) to promote integrated services and continuity of care.
  • Participates in team meetings, case conferences, and agency-related activities as needed to ensure effective communication and coordination.

Other

  • Maintains an approved schedule and acceptable level of attendance. This position requires full-time onsite requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or necessary as they relate to the general nature of the position.
  • Performs designated staff evaluations and/or discipline.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Education Required: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Minimum Experience Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA); minimum of 2 years post-CCC experience preferred, with demonstrated expertise serving children with autism and related developmental disorders.
  • License Requirement: Current Arizona Speech-Language Pathology license issued by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS).
  • Preferred Education: Any additional certifications or post-graduate coursework in pediatric feeding, early intervention, or neurodiversity-affirming approaches.
