The Department of Medicine is seeking candidates to fill two per diem Sleep Research Associate (Clinical Research Coordinator I) positions. Incumbents will perform polysomnographic (PSG) sleep studies for Sleep Medicine research studies. Studies may include healthy volunteers, individuals with sleep disorders, or hospitalized patients. The Sleep Research Associates will conduct sleep studies in the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center for Sleep, Circadian, and Neuroscience Research.
During or after the sleep study, it may be necessary to collect and process biological samples, such as blood, urine, or saliva. Incumbents will work closely with investigators, study coordinators, and other staff members to ensure continuous, high-quality capture of sleep study data. Successful candidates will possess ingenuity, resourcefulness, and adaptability to the special and changing needs of research.

Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct sleep study recordings.
- Schedule participants, collect vitals, setup PSG electrodes and equipment, record/score sleep study.
- Maintain and clean sleep study equipment and help manage supply inventory.
- Maintain required credentials and certifications.
- Assist in the scoring of sleep/wake stages and related events according to study protocols, and generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
- Create and manage databases for studies, which includes setting up database and associated data entry programs and retrieving data from databases for the purposes of analyses or data review.
- Assist in the development of written operating procedures and perform quality control checks to ensure procedures are followed.
- Comply with applicable regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
- Retrieve study participant blood, urine and saliva samples and process them in the wet laboratory using proper guidelines from various study protocols.
- Knowledge of the 10-20 electrode placement system and polysomnography (sleep studies).
- Ability to work flexible hours, shift work, and weekends.
- One (1) year of relevant work experience is required.
- Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience is required.
- Experience with Grass, Alice and Natus sleep recording software systems.
