Position Summary

Banner University Medical Center Tucson is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to join our Medical Surgery Unit - Resource Float. Our Med Surg strives for excellence in this fast-paced, dynamic setting. We are looking for a Patient Care Assistants to join our dedicated, multidisciplinary team. Resource Pool PCAs travel between the Tucson and South Campus locations to fulfill the needs of both hospitals between all inpatient areas, ED, and helps in PACU spaces.

Some key responsibilities include working in the Adult Health MS/PCU, Adult ICU, all Peds units, L&D, Post Partum, Emergency departments, and at times Senior Care and PACU spaces. Assignments are provided to the team member by our Staffing office 1.5-2hrs prior to shift start. As it is resource/float pool, no core unit. Possibly working a different unit each shift. Duties include preparing patients for their procedures, such as, vital monitoring, safety checks, EKG monitoring and assisting with hygienic tasks.

This position will also require transporting patients during admissions and discharges along with handling patient information. Growth opportunities within the Clinical Care Operations department such as cross training to other areas we support (Staffing office, Discharge Lounge) are available. You will be able to build and utilize your communication and time management skills by carrying out items in collaboration with the clinical and the support team.

  • Full Time Day and Night Shifts (3-12 or 2-12 hour shifts)
  • Day Shift from 6:00am - 6:30pm | Nights shift from 6:30pm - 6am
  • We have a self-scheduling tool and typically scheduling is done 6 weeks ahead of the schedule period. There are no set day schedules.
  • Weekend Rotations are required in this role. Every 3rd weekend required (Sat/Sun day shift, Fri/Sat night shift).
  • Rotating Holidays Required - 1 major and 1 minor
  • Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-Night Shift differential when applicable

Core Functions
  • Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.
