Summary:

A Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) is sought to contribute to the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of speech impediments across the district. This role involves conducting screenings and formal testing for students, participating in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and supporting the hearing conservation program. The SLPA will work under the guidance of certified Speech-Language Pathologists to ensure the delivery of effective speech therapy services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct informal screenings and formal testing to identify speech, language, fluency, voice, and hearing deficits among students.
  • Utilize testing results to assist in developing appropriate IEPs, selecting materials and strategies for therapy, and tracking student progress.
  • Operate audiometric equipment to support diagnostic processes.
  • Participate in state and district screening programs and act as a resource for hearing conservation efforts.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication with educational staff regarding the identification, nature, and management of speech and hearing disorders.
  • Provide in-service training to teachers, offering insights into diagnostic materials, remediation methods, and classroom strategies for supporting students with speech and language needs.
Qualifications:
  • To successfully fulfill this role, an individual must have the capability to perform each essential duty effectively.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Possession of an ADE Speech-Language Assistant or Technician Certificate is required.
