Position Overview
Banner Health – University Medical Center Tucson is seeking a Radiation Therapist to provide high quality radiation therapy treatments to cancer patients. The role utilizes advanced Radiation Oncology technology for a wide range of disease sites including prostate, breast, head and neck, lung, SRS, SBRT, T&O, TBI, anesthesia, and pediatrics.
Core Responsibilities- Performs radiation therapy treatments by following and verifying referring providers’ orders in accordance with departmental policies.
- Educates patients and families regarding the procedure and treatment, fostering teamwork and quality patient outcomes.
- Operates treatment and planning equipment, including simulation, to prepare and administer prescribed doses with accurate documentation.
- Demonstrates competence in invasive/interventional procedures, equipment quality control, and troubleshooting.
- Maintains a safe environment, adheres to radiation safety practices, and ensures proper handling of radioactive materials.
- Ensures efficient workflow operation and compliance with ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities, including confidentiality.
- Provides internal and external customer support to nursing management, medical staff, regulatory agencies, patients, and caregivers.
- Associate degree in radiation oncology or related field.
- National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; state licensure if applicable.
- BLS certification required.
- Strong knowledge of clinical techniques, applications, and equipment.
- Effective communication and human relations skills; safety conscious.
- For Banner MD Anderson on the Phoenix campus, Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
- Previous radiation therapy experience preferred.
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
24‑month service commitment required.
