General Responsibilities
  • Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
  • Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers within authorized company policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics.
  • Responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel; leads training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Make decisions regarding performance management, including discipline and termination.
Customer Experience
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving complaints and responding to requests timely.
  • Model and share customer service best practices and develop strong relationships by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Enhance customer experience by increasing focus on healthcare services.
Operations
  • Assist pharmacist in patient care: registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, flipping, and verifies where allowed by law.
  • Complete patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision and assist with authorized healthcare services such as vaccines and health screenings.
  • Within company policies and regulatory guidelines, delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work, ensuring tasks are completed on time.
  • Prepare and file required reports and records for the company and government agencies at the direction of the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist.
  • Manage core pharmacy workflow, coordinate daily schedule, recommend allocation of pharmacy hours, and maintain a clean, organized, well‑supplied pharmacy.
  • Ensure compliance and execution of all business administrative activities and inventory management tasks that do not require pharmacist licensure, managing annual inventory preparation.
  • Drive adoption of new technology and process roll‑outs, champion change, and engage the team in action planning.
  • Operate equipment, maintain records, and ensure security safeguards with the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Adhere to Walgreen Co. policy on Good Faith Dispensing and communicate prescription errors per company policies and continuous quality improvement program.
  • Process insurance claims accurately, prevent payment rejections, and follow up with insurers and providers, including participating in third‑party audits.
  • Support Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service.
  • Manage community outreach portal, coordinate off‑site immunization clinics and community events, and build retail partnership relationships.
People & Performance Management
  • Lead performance management of technicians, including discipline, suspension, termination or recommendations, using constructive discipline policy.
  • Hold technicians accountable for attendance, timeliness, and performance, supporting engagement and action planning.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and schedule technicians, ensuring timely completion of required training.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and provide training or learning module assignments to team members.
  • Monitor licensure, registration, and certification status of pharmacy and team members, documenting due diligence via Walgreens resources.
  • Ensure compliant procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training per company and regulatory requirements.
Training & Personal Development
  • Maintain PTCB certification and any state‑required certification or registration.
  • Continuously update knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
  • Obtain required certifications, education credits, and training such as LTMP e‑modules per company needs.
  • Pursue professional development by soliciting feedback and leveraging a Healthcare Supervisor as mentor and coach.
Communication
  • Communicate with the pharmacy team, relaying messages from support centers and relevant emails.
