Overview
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Cash Receipts Supervisor, the Cash Receipts Specialist I performs detail-oriented work concerned with the Cash Receipts Department for the Tribe and surrounding Tribal community.
Responsibilities- Responsible for proper recording and depositing all types of payments including, but not limited to, Tribal employee and business loan payments, Tribal , business license applications, sanitation, housing rent, Tribal Courts fines and fees, and inspection fees.
- Provide a high level of customer service to the Tribal community.
- Create daily reconciliation of cash drawer, if assigned.
- Recording payments in multiple accounting systems while maintaining accurate records.
- Must be willing to work in a team-oriented setting, possess the ability to work with a diverse group of people, be analytical and multitask, consistently meet deadlines, and adapt well to change to processes and procedures.
- Perform daily reconciliation of bank deposits to ensure all bank transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Understand Department goals and objectives and adhere to these guidelines.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by the Cash Receipts Supervisor.
Skills And Abilities
- Microsoft Office (strong skillset in Excel is a plus).
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping/accounting (previous experience with an accounting system is a plus).
- Office practices and procedures.
- Departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
- Federal, state, and local governments.
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, ordinances, rules and regulations.
- Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Performing and verifying mathematical computations.
- Manual cash count and reconciliation.
- Basic understanding of bank management concepts.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Follow verbal and written instruction.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Analyze, interpret, and understand bank and other financial reports.
- Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, and the Tribal community. Be able to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
High School Diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of experience in accounting, banking or closely related field.
Special Requirements- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
- Must successfully complete a background check and drug testing.
