Position: Guest Services Supervisor - Full Time

Overview

Reid Park Zoological Society is seeking a Guest Services Supervisor. This role requires a minimum of three years of sales or promotions experience and a minimum of one year in a full-time, supervisor or manager capacity. Supervisory or management experience in guest services is preferred. Experience working for a tourist attraction is strongly preferred. This position is open until filled.

The Reid Park Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and participates in more than 50 Species Survival Plans for threatened and endangered species. The zoo cares for over 200 exotic animal species, maintains a state-of-the-art elephant program, a teaching hospital for the University of Arizona veterinary program, and participates in Monarch and Songbird Saving Animals From Extinction (SAFE) programs.

With more than 600,000 visits annually, the zoo is expanding with Pathway to Asia, adding four acres and introducing red panda, Komodo dragon, Lar gibbons, and a breeding facility for Malayan tigers opening in 2026. Reid Park Zoo aims to connect people with animals to inspire protection of wild animals and wild places.

Pay Range: $37,460.08 to $44,015.59 DOE / FLSA Exempt. Reports to:

Guest Services Manager. This position supervises Guest Service Associates and works to ensure excellent customer service while promoting Reid Park Zoo and Reid Park Zoological Society and their mission.

This position builds and fosters relationships with zoo members, guests, and other supporters to build awareness and value to constituents. It is responsible for staff supervision, ticket sales, promoting products and services, and ensuring that Guest Service Associates promote them.

Reid Park Zoo is a smoke, vape and drug-free workplace.

Reports To:

Guest Service Manager.

General Duties

  • Demonstrates and models the core values of the Reid Park Zoological Society (RPZS or the Zoo)
  • Performs duties in accordance with RPZS policies and procedures
  • Provides excellent customer service as a component of all job duties
  • Follows Zoo safety protocols and procedures
  • Acts as liaison between directors and cashiers to ensure clear communication of policies, procedures, and changes

Membership Sales & Service

  • Works with Guest Service Manager to achieve goals for front-gate sales of memberships
  • Develops and carries out strategies for converting visitors to members, upgrading memberships, and sales of guest passes and other add-ons
  • Leads daily front-of-house operations, including admissions, membership sales, and specialized attractions (e.g., zoo train, carousels, or animal feedings)
  • Assists in training Guest Service Associates on membership sales
  • Serves members and resolves any guest service issues relating to membership

Cashiering

  • Sells tickets and other promotional items to guests in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Performs zoo opening tasks, including daily cash count for change fund and preparation of cashier booth
  • Handles cash, credit cards and checks accurately
  • Operates computer terminals, records transaction information, and tracks coupons and promotions; performs simple arithmetic with accuracy and reasonable speed
  • Issues receipts and tickets and provides changes as needed
  • Provides quality guest interaction and service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to inquiries and complaints
  • Promotes products and services by informing guests about promotions and suggesting additional items
  • Ensures customers receive satisfactory service
  • Responsible for all booth money during the day and at closing
  • Performs final closing for the zoo, including money safety and entry security
