The Hardware Engineering Team provides engineering design and development services to a wide range of products within Raytheon. The Critical Item Production Readiness (CPR) department ensures that every product is designed with its entire production lifecycle in mind, integrating manufacturability, assembly, scalability, and cost management. CPR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Accelerated Learning & Rapid Prototyping section. In this role you will collaborate with engineers across disciplines to support mechanical hardware development throughout the entire product lifecycle.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will handle hardware design for rapid prototyping and product development to meet stringent program schedules. You will work within a small team on drawing generation, release, and change incorporation, and support the internal additive manufacturing (AM) lab, external suppliers, and 3D scanning activities.
What You Will Do- Support internal AM lab capabilities, managing end‑to‑end AM prototype part workflows for material extrusion, material jetting, and vat photopolymerization, including machine troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and material handling.
- Connect internal customers to external suppliers for the manufacturing and procurement of AM and traditionally manufactured parts to support development, proof of design, proof of manufacturing, and engineering use hardware.
- Utilize the CREO CAD tool for modeling and documentation creation.
- Support end‑to‑end rapid prototyping from initial requirement development, through design, procurement, fabrication, integration, and test.
- Perform 3D scanning activities for hardware measurement, inspection, reverse engineering, and documentation.
- Create documents per Raytheon guidelines and release them in the Product Data Management (PDM) system.
- Manage multiple customer requests, materials, processes, and workflow stages simultaneously while keeping the team up to date.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 2 years of engineering experience in mechanical design and manufacturing.
- Experience with solid modeling tools such as CREO, Solid Works, or similar.
- Hands‑on rapid prototyping and hardware integration experience.
- Experience with Windchill or similar product data management tools.
- Experience working with polymer additive manufacturing technologies/processes, AM machines, and post‑processing equipment.
- Experience with additive manufacturing software such as CURA, Materialize Magics, Stratasys GrabCAD, Stratasys Insight, Stratasys Control Center, and Formlabs Preform.
- Experience with 3D scanning applications.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma.
- Self‑sufficient, with the ability to refine requests and drive improvements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and team‑oriented mindset.

Salary Range$68,900 USD – $131,100 USD (good faith estimate; final offer may vary based on experience, location, education, and other factors).
Role Type Definitions- Onsite: Employees work primarily onsite, including production and maintenance roles essential to product development.
- Hybrid: Employees work regularly both onsite and offsite; onsite ratio is determined with the leader.
- Remote: Primarily offsite; may travel to site as needed. Require residency in one of the 50 U.S. states.
