Northwest Talent Solutions is partnering with a global aerospace and advanced manufacturing organization to identify a Progressive Forming Engineer for its engineering team in Tucson, Arizona
.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of tooling design, advanced metal forming processes, and aerospace manufacturing innovation
.
The engineer will play a key role in the design, prototyping, and industrialization of progressive cold forming tooling used in the production of high-precision aerospace fastening systems and structural components.
Key Responsibilities:- Designing progressive header tooling for blind fastener cold forming processes
- Developing tooling design concepts and layouts using Solid Works
- Performing dimensional, metallurgical, and functional analysis to predict tooling performance and life cycle
- Designing tooling components and assemblies for high-precision metal forming applications
- Supporting prototype development, debugging, and validation of tooling designs
- Assisting with new product development and manufacturability assessments
- Supporting production implementation of new tooling and forming processes
- Collaborating with tooling vendors on materials, fabrication, and design improvements
- Troubleshooting and resolving tooling and forming issues within production environments
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives focused on tooling efficiency and manufacturing quality
- Ensuring adherence to engineering standards, safety protocols, and quality processes
Successful candidates will bring strong mechanical design skills and experience with high-precision metal forming processes
.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in metal forming or precision manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated expertise in tooling design and testing
- Experience with product and process failure analysis
- Proficiency in Solid Works and engineering design software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
- Experience designing progressive cold forming tooling or fastener manufacturing systems
- Familiarity with metal forming simulation tools such as Deform CAE
- Experience supporting prototype tooling development and production implementation
- Background in aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Position subject to ITAR regulations (U.S. Persons only)
- Work on precision components used in commercial and military aerospace systems
