Cycle Engineering (LCE)
is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines:
Reliability, System Safety, and Supportability.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineer to join us in Tucson, AZ.
As a System Safety Engineer
, your responsibilities will include:
- Executing with a theoretical to advanced knowledge of MIL-STD-882E requirements
- Performing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses
- Work autonomously and with limited supervision to empower representatives to gain safety approval from appropriate Safety Review Board authorities
- Working with all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
- Collaborating with program Safety leadership and program stakeholders from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
- Performing System Safety Program, Hazard analyses or Design analyses
- Preparing input to safety briefings of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
- Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
- Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
- Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
This position is posted as ONSITE and will be based at Raytheon’s Tucson, AZ location.
Qualifications You Must Have:- Typically Requires:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) - Three years’ experience with:
System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering. - The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience with weapon combat systems
- Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
- Ability to solve complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to contribute to a safety program and provide support to safety personnel

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
