The Mechanical Engineering department leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation. The Mechanical Products Team is seeking a CAD Design Engineer in the Shipboard Effectors Department.

The position is located on-site in Tucson, AZ

What You Will Do:

The candidate will design major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
* Develops or improves products, test equipment, or manufacturing processes. Develops data and makes parametric models, layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.

* Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.

* Designs, develops and tests metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.

* They will solve routine problems of varying scope and complexity following established policies and procedures with minimal direction or supervision. Qualifications You Must Have:
* Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or in absence of a degree, an additional 2 years of experience is required.

* 2 years of experience with CREO Parametric (Pro/Engineer) solid modeling CAD software or similar (Solid Works, CATIA, Inventor)

* The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer:
* Understanding of basic principles, theories, and concepts for creation and preparation of engineering design documentation

* Technical knowledge sufficient to perform tasks such as preparation/changes to drawings/models and create new 3D models and drawings with general direction

* Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) including simple tolerance analysis

* Interpret, apply, and make decisions regarding the application of documentation specification such as MIL-STD-31000, Y14.5M, ASME Y14.24 and ASME Y14.100

* Knowledge of mechanical fabrication processes and techniques

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
