This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to be on the forefront of energy storage innovation, turning cutting‑edge concepts into robust, manufacturable products. You will collaborate across engineering, scientific, and manufacturing disciplines to help shape high‑performance battery systems that power tomorrow’s technologies.
Responsibilities:- Develop accurate 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings for battery cells, modules, packs, and mechanical sub‑systems.
- Create and manage engineering documentation such as BOMs, design specifications, and revision control within PLM systems.
- Translate engineering concepts into manufacturable designs, addressing functional, thermal, and safety requirements.
- Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMA principles, and select appropriate materials to ensure robust product development.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, scientists, and manufacturing teams to iterate and refine component designs.
- Identify potential design issues, support root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective updates as needed.
- Lead and participate in design reviews, making technical recommendations that enhance performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Work with internal and external partners to ensure component feasibility, cost‑effectiveness, and adherence to manufacturing standards.
- Ensure all designs meet internal engineering benchmarks, safety guidelines, and industry regulations.
Skills:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; significant relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience
- Expertise in 3D CAD software such as Solid Works, Creo, Inventor, CATIA, or NX.
- Strong foundation in mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and creating technical drawings and GD&T.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and engineering documentation skills.
Skills:
- Experience designing components for battery systems, energy storage, automotive, aerospace, or other high‑precision segments.
- Familiarity with thermal management, structural analysis, or mechanical simulation tools.
- Background in using PLM systems for engineering document control.
- Knowledge of materials specific to battery systems, including polymers, thin metals, and thermal interface materials.
- Ability to manage multiple iterative design projects in a fast‑evolving environment.
- Strong cross‑functional teamwork and communication capabilities.
