• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 6+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering capacity in the defense, semiconductor, or microelectronics industries.
• Experience with designing, assembling, testing, and shipping complex laser or optics systems, specifically tools operating at the mm to micron level.
• Design experience using 3D and 2D design with Solid Works, adhering to ANSI Y14.5M standards and GD&T.
• Designing and assembling heatsinks, optical attach (including large bulk optical attach), and colliders.
• Experience with ANSYS and thermal simulation tools to conduct design validation and reliability tests. Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
• Comfortable spending at least 50% of time in the cleanroom or lab.

An Insight Global customer in Tucson, AZ is looking to hire a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer for a full-time, permanent role. This person will be on a team of about 5 engineers and responsible for designing, assembling, and packaging/shipping new diode laser systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in the defense industry, specifically working on mechanical components, assembly, and testing for similar laser or optical tools.

This role will require you to spend about 50% of your time in a cleanroom/lab environment.
