Pre-Apprentice Electronics Technician (Communication Services) – Normal Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid up-to-date driver license
- Understanding of electrical theory and college algebra
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry tools for extended periods
- Ability to climb towers and structures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work harmoniously with coworkers and customers maintaining a positive attitude
- Ability to work in the field on an all-day basis, overtime, holidays, weekends, inclement weather, and travel for out-of-town work
- Ability to work in a manner that prevents injury
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
In order to qualify for this bid, you will progress through three exams: a technical test (50 questions, 2 hours, passing score 85%), a practical assessment, and a core competency oral interview. A study outline is provided to prepare for these assessments.
Responsibilities- Perform basic duties and less skilled operations in construction, operation, and maintenance as directed
- Learn safety rules, practices, and procedures used by the company
- Assist Electronics Technicians
- Perform duties of progressively increasing importance and complexity
- Perform tasks safely and efficiently in accordance with company practices and procedures
- Support services to affiliates as needed per company policies
Skills and Abilities
- Climb communications towers and structures
- Travel out of the Tucson area to work on remote Company facilities
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Work overtime as required
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Knowledge of basic electronics and algebra
- Follow instructions; maintain neat and orderly work habits
- Work well with others
The interview is a behavioral-based interview incorporating core competencies. Questions are designed to elicit patterns indicating the ability to perform the job as required. Core competencies include:
