Job Description – Pre-Apprentice, Electronics Technician

Description:
This job classification is an entry classification position, designed to train the employee to assume the responsibilities of an Apprentice Electronics Technician. Under close supervision by an Electronics Technician, the employee assists, acquires knowledge and experience, and progressively learns the craft. Position-Related
Responsibilities include:
- Perform all the basic duties and less skilled operations in connection with construction, operation, and maintenance performed by personnel in the section.
- Learn safety rules, practices and procedures used by the company and the section.
- Assist Electronics Technicians.
- Perform duties of progressively increasing importance and complexity.
- Perform assigned work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Company practices and procedures.
- This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
include:
- Must have the ability to climb communications towers and structures.
- Must be able to travel out of the Tucson area to work on remote Company facilities.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to work overtime as deemed necessary by the Company.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of basic electronics and algebra.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Neat and orderly work habits.
- Ability to work in harmony with others.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid up-to-date driver license.
- An understanding of electrical theory and college algebra.
- Ability to physically bend, stoop, lift and climb, and carry tools for extended periods.
- Ability to climb towers and structures.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work harmoniously with fellow workers and customers maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to work in the field on an all-day basis, overtime, holidays, weekends, inclement weather, and to travel for out-of-town work.
- Ability to work in a manner that prevents injury.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
