The School of Architecture at the University of Arizona invites applicants for two faculty positions at the rank of assistant (non-tenure, tenure-eligible) in the Architecture programs.

The University of Arizona is a Research 1 university located in Tucson, a cultural gem in the Southwest. As a faculty member, the successful candidate will maintain an active and externally funded research program expanding the frontiers of building science or building physics research. We seek to hire an emerging leader whose work addresses big-picture questions at the intersection of building science, building physics, and architectural design, linking the technical dimensions of building performance simulation, heat-air-moisture transfer, thermal comfort, indoor environmental quality, envelope systems, materials, or building energy systems to the architectural design process.

Areas of current and potential focus may include advanced computational modeling, parametric and simulation-informed design workflows, 3D printing and other advanced construction methods, AI-enabled analysis, cyber-physical sensor systems, digital twins, carbon accounting or building-integrated carbon capture, or data-driven approaches to building operation and performance over time. Other potential topics include emerging building technologies, such as advanced windows, enclosure assemblies, insulation or thermal storage materials, heating and cooling technologies, grid-interactive efficient buildings (GEBs), district energy systems, or the role of buildings in macroenergy systems (MES).

The successful candidate will enthusiastically and creatively engage with the ethos of architecture and design to work with our School's faculty as we aim to integrate into our studios and other courses core building science and building physics concepts in ways that resonate with our undergraduate and graduate students.

Outstanding U of A benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; U of A/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; retirement plans; access to U of A recreation and cultural activities; and more!

The University of Arizona has been recognized for our innovative work-life programs. For more information about working at the University of Arizona and relocations services, please .

The School of Architecture at The University of Arizona's regards the local built environment as inseparable from the Sonoran Desert, where generations of people have thrived in an extreme climate. With growing enrollments enriching our already diverse, dynamic, and engaged student body, our program invites applications for potential faculty that align with our mission to "address complex social and environmental issues, locally and globally, through professional education, critical inquiry, research and innovation."

The University of Arizona provides excellent opportunities for vigorous and collaborative researchers, with creative and productive faculty in the School of Architecture and in allied disciplines, such as a strong buildings-oriented faculty in Civil and Architectural Engineering & Mechanics, and in broader programs allied with the university's historic strength in environment, such as the Arizona Institute for Resilience. Within the broader context of the University, there is potential for a wide network of partnerships across programs centered on resilience, AI and data, environment, energy, health, and water.

The successful candidate may demonstrate alignment with one or more of the university's key research areas:
1) Data, Information Systems and Artificial Intelligence;
2) Energy, Mining, and Environmental Sustainability;
