Position Highlights
The College of Fine Arts at the University of Arizona seeks a student-centered and institutionally knowledgeable Academic Advisor II to support undergraduate students pursuing degrees within the college, with an anticipated focus in the School of Art. This position plays a vital role in supporting student success, retention, and academic progression by delivering proactive, developmentally appropriate advising to help students achieve their academic and career goals.
The advisor will work closely with advising colleagues and others to support complex curricular pathways while upholding college and university policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities- Holds advising appointments with individual students in order to assess their stage of development (academic and career) and promote their growth by determining suitable developmental tasks.
- Supports students in establishing realistic and attainable academic and career goals by assisting undergraduate students in determining educational plans, choosing courses, and exploring majors, minors, and career options.
- Counsels students on options to satisfy degree requirements.
- Monitors students’ academic progress, determines satisfactory progress toward degree, and assists students in completion.
- Evaluates use of transfer credit and determines applicability to degree requirements.
- Utilizes UA systems (UAccess Student, AAR, Trellis) to monitor academic progress and maintain advising records.
- Interprets and explains University, College, and School-level academic policies and procedures.
- Evaluates transfer credits and petitions, determines progress toward degree completion, and prepares degree audits.
- Collaborates with advising team, Associate Director of Advising, and program faculty to ensure consistency in advising practices across programs.
- Implements student success initiatives focused on retention and persistence.
- Participates in orientations.
- Participates in supporting graduation and other milestone events in the college or schools.
- Engages with community college partners.
- Refers students to relevant academic and campus resources to support their holistic development.
- Maintains accurate student records, notes, and reports in advising databases.
- Supports the coordination of curriculum and scheduling changes with academic departments.
- Provides data insights related to advising trends, student outcomes, and academic bottlenecks.
- Participates in college- and university-level advising initiatives.
- Serves on school, college or university-level committees.
- Attends professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning through professional-level experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant advising or student services experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of relevant experience in academic advising, student support, or academic affairs.
- Proficiency using University of Arizona systems such as UAccess Student, AAR, Trellis, and UA Analytics-Preferred.
