Overview
The Eller College of Management’s Undergraduate Programs Office is seeking a professional with effective communication and strong team skills to join as an Academic Advisor I. Academic Advisors in the Undergraduate Programs Office serve Eller students through academic advising, programming, teaching, and career/global exploration. They are responsible for assisting students in evaluating academic abilities, setting goals and objectives, meeting requirements of Eller majors in the foundational and professional programs, and exploring experiential learning and career opportunities.
Academic Advisors also have programming responsibilities which require the ability to plan, develop, market, and evaluate programs. They may also be responsible for leading workshops, teaching success courses, and advising organizations. They will be expected to participate in professional development activities. Eller Academic Advisors support students in the Main, Online, and Global campuses.
- Advise Eller students on academic requirements and procedures across the Main, Online, and Global campuses.
- Participate in orientation programs; evaluate course petitions and amendments to student’s program of study, monitor academic progress, maintain student files and records, and evaluate domestic and international transfer transcripts for course equivalencies.
- Support student learning opportunities related to their student population and provide guidance on academic, career, and global opportunities.
- Participate in workshops, advise organizations, and/or teach courses which promote engagement, retention, and completion.
- Utilize communication tools to enable proactive outreach to Eller students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Proficient communication skills – verbal and written.
- The ability to handle a variety of tasks, prioritize projects, and solve problems.
- A demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail, a motivated/enthusiastic work style, and the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 year of relevant work experience may be required.
- Previous academic advising, or other experience in higher education or student services.
- Work experience in a related field.
