1st Grade Teacher - 25/26 SY – Sunnyside Unified School District

Overview: Under general supervision, develops and implements a curriculum program consistent with District educational goals and objectives.

Essential Functions: Under ADA, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list is illustrative only.

Tasks: Observe and monitor student behavior in the classroom, playground, field‑trips, lunchroom, library, school buses, and other areas; establish and maintain a classroom atmosphere that ensures emotional and physical safety; assess student needs and develop, implement and evaluate daily lesson plans; modify instruction to meet each child’s needs; plan, organize and display materials; employ classroom management techniques; use positive reinforcement; analyze student progress and curriculum effectiveness;

inform parents and participate in instructional teams; collaborate with specialists; monitor teacher assistant activities; order supplies; and perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: Work performed indoors, requires frequent sitting, repetitive motion, visual monitoring, and occasional lifting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
• Valid Arizona Elementary 1‑8 Teaching Certificate.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Equivalent combination of training, education or experience that meets minimum qualifications.
