Job Description
- Instruct 8th grade scholars using the classical model of learning combined with data‑driven decision‑making.
- Create daily lesson plans; participate in ongoing professional training sessions.
- Meet with Administration and the Professional Development team for instructional planning based on assessment data.
- Collaborate with grade‑level teams to plan, conduct, and evaluate common unit assessments.
- Serve as a liaison with the Vice Principal, Deans, and Professional Development team.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and passing scores on the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments or a current Arizona or other state teaching certificate.
- One year of demonstrated teaching experience or an equivalent combination of training or experience.
- AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
- First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Working knowledge of Classical curricula, Charlotte Mason’s philosophy, AzM2 data systems, Common Core Standards, Saxon Math, and Shurley English Language Arts program, or a willingness to learn.
- Proven leadership ability promoting collaborative decision‑making and strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage conflict resolution, communicate effectively with scholars, parents, and colleagues, and promote health and safety.
- Basic computer and office equipment proficiency.
- Physical ability to lift boxes and supplies as needed.
- Establish and enforce rules and procedures for responsible behavior.
- Observe and evaluate scholars’ academic performance, behavior, and social development.
- Prepare instructional materials based on the classical model and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
- Plan and conduct scholar activities that encourage observation, questioning, discovery, and investigation.
- Instruct using whole‑class, small‑group, and individual approaches with methods such as EEI, Direct Instruction, Socratic Teaching, Cooperative Learning, Inquiry‑Based Learning, and Discovery Learning.
- Notify administrators of special‑needs scholars and collaborate with the Special Education instructor.
- Provide assistive devices, supportive technology, and daily living skills to disabled scholars.
- Implement ELL strategies and develop curriculum maps under guidance of Administration.
- Assign and grade classwork, maintain scholar data books, and conduct formative and unit assessments.
- Confer with parents/guardians to resolve behavioral and academic issues, and provide guidance and resource recommendations.
- Maintain accurate scholar records as required by law.
- Prepare scholars for later grades and guide those with academic or social challenges.
- Participate in faculty collaboration, field trips, experiential activities, and extracurricular sponsorship.
- Use computers and audiovisual aids to supplement presentations.
- Attend professional development meetings, conferences, and workshops to improve skills.
- Assist in hall monitoring, drop‑off/pick‑up supervision, and other support duties as assigned.
- Self‑starter with an ownership attitude and strong sense of drive to meet goals.
