Overview

7th Grade Social Studies Teacher - 25/26 SY position at Sunnyside Unified School District.

• Observe and monitor classroom and related environments; establish, maintain, and promote a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment; assess student needs and develop, implement, and evaluate daily lesson plans; modify instruction to meet individual student needs; organize classroom materials and space to support curricular activities; apply classroom management techniques to maintain order and safety; use positive reinforcement to support desired behaviors and educational outcomes;
  
  plan instruction to meet objectives based on student needs and established curriculum; implement instructional techniques to motivate students.
• Evaluate written materials and student progress; analyze and evaluate curriculum; communicate assessment methods and student progress to parents; participate as a member of an instructional team to promote learning aligned with District and school objectives; collaborate with specialists to support students; monitor activities of teacher assistants and classroom volunteers; order classroom supplies and instructional materials; perform other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of state and federal standards and activities related to education.
• Knowledge of developmental levels of school-age children.
• Knowledge of district and department policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of various teaching techniques and classroom management methods.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Strong reading, writing, and communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; basic math computations.

Work is performed in an indoor environment. Requires frequent sitting, repetitive motion, visual monitoring, and may require some lifting.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
• Valid Arizona Elementary 1-8 Teaching Certificate.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets minimum qualifications and state certification requirements will be accepted.
