Overview

Under general supervision, develops and implements a curriculum program consistent with District educational goals and objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Observe and monitor student behavior in the classroom, playground, field trips, lunchroom, library, buses, and other areas; establish and maintain a classroom atmosphere that supports safety, respect, and productive learning.
  • Assess student needs and develop, implement, and evaluate daily lesson plans aligned with the curriculum; modify instruction to meet individual learner needs; organize and display materials, space, and time for curricular activities.
  • Utilize classroom management techniques to maintain organization, orderliness, safety, and a productive learning environment; apply positive reinforcement to support desired behaviors and outcomes; plan instruction to achieve specific objectives.
  • Implement instructional techniques to motivate students and maximize learning; evaluate student progress and the curriculum; communicate methods and results to parents; inform parents about school activities and progress.
  • Collaborate with instructional teams and specialists; monitor classroom volunteers and teacher assistants; order classroom supplies and instructional materials; perform other duties as assigned.
  • Notify the site administrator of the special needs of students who display characteristics that vary from the norm; collaborate with specialists to assist students.
Knowledge, Skills And Other Characteristics
  • Knowledge of State and Federal activities standards.
  • Knowledge of developmental levels of school-age children.
  • Knowledge of District and Department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of various teaching techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge of classroom management methods.
  • Skill in applying common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting documents such as rules, instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Skill in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Skill in effective written and oral communication.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Skill in basic math computations.
Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, repetitive motion, vision to monitor, and may require some lifting.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
  • Valid Arizona Elementary 1-8 Teaching Certificate.
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education or experience that meets the minimum qualifications and State certification requirements will be accepted.
