Substitute Teacher; District Pool - SY

DEFINITION: On-call position to provide instruction to students according to established lesson plans. Responsibilities include administering directions, preparing lesson plans, and monitoring student performance.

• Maintain routines and procedures
• Adhere to District policies and rules
• Follow provided lesson plans and teach accordingly
• Organize classroom materials for curricular activities
• Communicate expectations clearly, adapt to learner needs, and ensure a safe environment
• Observe student behavior in classroom and on playground
• Manage student behavior and oversee classroom activities
• Respond to emergencies and provide directions as needed
• Coordinate with paraprofessionals and volunteers
• Provide feedback to the teacher about lessons and student behavior
• Use the District’s substitute system to accept or decline assignments
• Report to the school 30 minutes early to sign in, review plans, and prepare for the day

• Understanding of State and Federal standards
• Knowledge of child development and classroom management
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills
• Basic math skills and ability to interpret documents

Indoor work environment; frequent sitting, repetitive motions, monitoring, and some lifting.

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Valid Arizona Teaching or Substitute Certificate
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

• K-12 teaching experience
• Fluency in Spanish and English (if required)

Hourly Rate: $20.00 for 7.5 hours = $150.00 per day. Start: 2025/2026 School Year
