Tucson Waldorf School is Seeking an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher for the ’25-’26 School Year

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to join our team for the ‘25-26 school year. This benefits-eligible position works only during the school year and is paid hourly at a rate of $21.18.

The Playgarden Assistant plays a pivotal role in the classroom, providing essential support to the Lead Teacher in various tasks, including organizing materials, food preparation, and ensuring the well-being of our young children.

• Assist the lead teacher in organizing classroom materials and activities.
• Assist the lead teacher in organizing and maintaining the outdoor play spaces.
• Support children in transitions throughout the school day.
• Tidy and reset the classrooms at the end of each day.
• Aid in food preparation for students and organization of the food truck.
• Maintain a warm and balanced demeanor while interacting with children aged 2.5-6.
• Embrace and implement essential elements of Waldorf pedagogy.
• Occasionally assume the lead teacher role in the absence of the primary instructor, managing all tasks and activities effectively.

• Ability to maintain a warm and balanced demeanor while working with young children.
• Openness to learning and implementing Waldorf pedagogical principles.
• Capacity to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Capacity to be outside for long periods of time in all weather conditions
• Able to kneel, sit, and bend to the ground with ease throughout the day
• A minimum of two years experience in early childhood education is preferred.

• This position works daily from 8:00-3:45 during the school year and is paid hourly at a rate of $21.18.
• Benefits include partial tuition remission and optional dental, vision, and medical insurance.
• The school year runs from Mid August through late May
