DEFINITION
:
Under general supervision, develops and implements a curriculum program consistent with District educational goals and objectives.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
:

TASKS
:
- Observes and monitors control of student’s behavior in various settings.
- Establishes and maintains a safe classroom atmosphere emphasizing mutual respect and responsibility.
- Assesses student needs and develops, implements, and evaluates daily lesson plans.
- Modifies instruction to meet the needs of each child.
- Organizes classroom materials and space appropriately.
- Utilizes classroom management techniques to maintain order and safety.
- Implements instructional techniques to encourage and motivate students.
- Evaluates written materials and student progress.
- Informs parents about student progress and instructional methods.
- Participates as a member of an instructional team.
- Notifies site administrator of special needs of students.
- Collaborates with specialists to assist students.
- Orders classroom supplies and instructional materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
:
- Knowledge of State and Federal activity standards.
- Understanding of developmental levels of school-age children.
- Familiarity with District and Department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of various teaching techniques and methods.
- Classroom management skills.
- Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Skill in reading and interpreting documents.
- Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Basic math computation skills.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
:
Work is performed in an indoor environment, requiring frequent sitting, repetitive motion, vision monitoring, and potential lifting.


QUALIFICATIONS
:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
- Valid Arizona Elementary 1-8 or Secondary 6-12 Teaching Certificate.
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets minimum qualifications and State certification requirements will be accepted.
