DEFINITION:
Under general supervision, develops and implements a curriculum program consistent with District educational goals and objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Observes and monitors control of student’s behavior in various settings; establishes and maintains a safe and respectful classroom environment; assesses student needs and develops, implements, and evaluates lesson plans; modifies instruction to meet individual needs; manages classroom materials and space; utilizes classroom management techniques; encourages positive behavior and motivation; plans instruction based on curriculum and student needs.
  • Evaluates student work, analyzes progress, and adjusts teaching strategies accordingly; communicates with parents about student progress and instructional methods; collaborates with instructional team members and specialists; monitors activities of classroom volunteers and assistants; orders supplies and materials; performs other duties as assigned.

    • Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics

    • Knowledge of State and Federal educational standards.
    • Understanding of developmental levels of school-age children.
    • Knowledge of district policies and teaching techniques.
    • Skills in classroom management, communication, and basic math.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Indoor work with frequent sitting, repetitive motion, visual monitoring, and some lifting.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
    • Valid Arizona Elementary 1-8 Teaching Certificate.
    • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
    • Equivalent training, education, or experience meeting minimum qualifications and certification requirements.
