The School of Architecture at the University of Arizona seeks applicants whose research, teaching, and creative practice bridge design innovation, technology, and environmental performance. We invite candidates who view architecture as a means to advance resilient, equitable, and imaginative futures—those who thrive in collaborative settings and engage inquiry through both design and scholarship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advance Computational and Performance-Driven Design
    Contribute to a research-intensive university where architectural design critically engages technology and the environment. We welcome individuals whose work integrates computational design, performance modeling, and emerging tools such as artificial intelligence to address the complex relationships among people, buildings, and ecosystems.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines to Address Global Challenges
    Join a dynamic academic community with strong connections to Sustainable Built Environments, Landscape Architecture, and Urban Planning, as well as to university-wide initiatives in Energy, Environment, Water, Health, Data, and AI. This position offers the opportunity to cultivate diverse partnerships that advance interdisciplinary research aligned with the University’s strategic research areas.
  • Teach and Research in the Living Laboratory of the Sonoran Desert
    Engage in a distinctive pedagogical and research context where the built environment is inseparable from its desert setting. Tucson’s rich ecological and cultural landscape provides an unparalleled opportunity to explore architecture’s role in adaptation, material and energy flows, and climate-responsive design.
  • Benefits

    Outstanding U of A benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; sick leave and holidays; U of A/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; retirement plans; access to U of A recreation and cultural activities; and more!

    Duties & Responsibilities

    We seek a new and committed colleague for a tenure‑track position at the University of Arizona, a Research 1 university located in Tucson, a cultural gem in the Southwest. The faculty member hired will be a current or future leader who expands the boundaries of innovative and experimental design with approaches informed by computational design, performance modeling, and/or advanced digital tools such as AI.

    The work will engage these tools with the aim of addressing grand social and environmental challenges, such as environmental impact and ecosystem degradations, including energy, water, air, and/or material flows and applications.

    Our new colleague will actively build new collaborations with faculty in the School of Architecture and in allied disciplines including Sustainable Built Environments, Landscape Architecture and/or Urban Planning. Within the broader context of the University, there is potential for a wide network of partnerships programs centered on resilience, AI and data, environment, energy, health, and water. The candidate may demonstrate alignment with one or more of the university’s key research areas:
    1) Data, Information Systems and Artificial Intelligence;
    2) Energy, Mining, and Environmental Sustainability;
