SummaryThe Principal provides leadership on the campus with a focus on student learning, achievement, relationships, and communication. Manages the operation and functions of the campus and supervises site staff in accordance with the Governing Board Policies. Facilitates the success of students by collaborating with Pima JTED instructors in regards to the development, articulation, implementation of curriculum and ensures the requirements of Career Technical Education (CTE) are implemented in the program.
EssentialDuties / Responsibilities
- Maintains a positive culture and climate
- Provides instructional leadership and support to all teachers, particularly novice educators, to ensure their success and long‑term retention
- Supports curriculum development and premier instruction
- Evaluates teachers and staff
- Handles discipline issues
- Monitors the safety and security of campuses
- Assists teachers with delivery of curriculum to help Special Ed/504 students meet state CTE standards
- Monitors student achievement, attendance and discipline
- Handles facility issues at campuses
- Communicates regularly with relevant stakeholders
- Required to work evenings and some weekends
- Assists with the recruitment and retention of students
- Assists with the recruitment and retention of teachers, skills instructors, lab and teaching assistants, etc.
- Works with the Chief Academic Officer in hiring of academic staff
- Reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer
- Performs related duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Minimum three years of experience in K‑12 education, five years preferred, preferably at the high school level;
Master's Degree in Education or equivalent from an accredited university;
Valid Arizona Administrative Certificate;
Valid Arizona Principal Certificate;
Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate;
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Card;
Must possess a valid Arizona Driver License;
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles), or MMR immunization required unless born prior to January 1, 1957;
Negative TB test within the last year.
Arizona Qualified Evaluator;
Experience as a teacher mentor, instructional coach, or evaluator of teachers;
Experience as an administrator or director of programs, schools, etc.;
Experience handling student discipline;
Demonstrated background/experience in school leadership including supervision/management and/or teamwork;
Extensive knowledge of Arizona career and technical education;
Bilingual (Spanish/English), but not required.
Work is performed in an indoor/outdoor environment. Frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, and may require some lifting.
