Overview
Physician - The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is seeking a full-time Physician (Radiologist Diagnostic), who is skilled at or recently completed a Fellowship in Neuroimaging interpretation, who is committed to quality patient care, teaching, and research related to all functions of Radiology in Tucson, Arizona.
ResponsibilitiesThis physician will be responsible for functions which fall under the scope of care of Radiology Service. These include clinical and administrative management, and include but are not limited to the following:
- Examinations - interpret radiological examinations using appropriate clinical, laboratory and other pertinent data; provide follow-up when indicated.
- Diagnosis - accurately interpret and evaluate radiological data to determine diagnosis and clinical status; correct diagnosis when necessary.
- Therapeutic Ability - initiate timely interpretation; recognize changes in patient status during and after radiology examinations and modify the plan of treatment when indicated; understand own capabilities and limitations.
- Patient Management - maintain confidentiality and demonstrate competence and interpersonal skills; act as a consultant in involving patients in the treatment and management plan.
- Consultations and Specialty Skills - act as a consultant for the Radiology Section in developing, implementing and evaluating diagnosis and treatment; recognize the need for consultation with other facility specialty areas.
- Record keeping - promptly and completely report physical examinations and changes in patient status; maintain clear, accurate, and current clinical records; complete medical records by hospital regulations.
- Other responsibilities - shared call and weekend coverage; resident and technologist education; review of pre-procedure labs and protocoling of radiology studies; participation in peer review; quality management activities (peer review, study/film quality); participation in SAVAHCS committees such as the multidisciplinary tumor board.
- US Citizen
- Active and unrestricted license in any US State
- Doctor of Medicine or osteopathic medicine
- Board Certified or eligible in Diagnostic Radiology
- Significant experience with Neuro Imaging or recently completed a Neuroradiology fellowship; ability to perform neuroradiologic procedures such as lumbar punctures and myelograms preferred
- Ability to interpret examinations related to multiple specialties and to interpret radiographs and perform fluoroscopic exams
- Provide teaching and training for residents/fellows
Full-time, Permanent, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; may work some on-call coverage

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): approved
Pay: $350,000 - $400,000 with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, and possible 5 days for CME)
