Position: Booker/Flagger (Hyundai East)

Position Summary

Filters all service work into computer system accurately, correctly and promptly, maintains a smooth flow and processing of all work assigned within the department. Ensures that all repair orders are entered immediately upon completion of work and before vehicles are returned to the customer. Meets customers on the service drive and determines the requested, and or needed, service to be performed on the vehicle;

completes assorted paperwork; routinely tracks customer’s vehicle while in the service area and follow‑up with customer by telephone or via face‑to‑face interaction with the customer; follows all federal, state and local regulations regarding OSHA guidelines, safety requirements and consumer vehicle awareness and follows all state, federal and DMV laws and regulations, adheres to all company policies, procedures and ethical standards and established industry guidelines;

answers all telephone inquiries of customers, vendors and co‑workers; maintains pending repair order paperwork by using a standard filing system that is available for immediate reference and retrieval; safely drives vehicles on pre‑established routes; physically, manually and auditorily inspects vehicles and identifies any additional technical work that may be required, plus any defects, flaws, blemishes or damage either on the exterior or interior of the vehicle;

accurately compares, reads and records identification numbers up to 18 characters; and provides input via a computer and keyboard to order the services needed for each vehicle.

Essential Job Functions
  • Receives original and duplicate copies of all repair orders from Service Advisor; enters work into the computer; sends all copies of orders to necessary areas.
  • Records completion of work on route sheet and delivers triplicate copy of repair order to Parts Clerk.
  • Uses computer tracking system for vehicle status, etc.
  • Clearly and concisely answers telephone inquiries of technicians and co‑workers.
  • Keeps repair orders and other related paperwork continually organized in a standard filing system available for immediate reference and retrieval.
  • Follows all federal, state and local regulations regarding OSHA guidelines, safety requirements and safety awareness for customer vehicles.
  • Obeys all state, federal and Department of Motor Vehicles laws and regulations, adheres to all Company policies, procedures and ethical standards and established industry guidelines.

Job Requirements
  • Clearly communicates verbally in person and by telephone with co‑workers and/or technicians.
  • English reading and math skills sufficient to read all documents, verify accuracy of information and understand directions.
  • Arrives at work by as scheduled with consistent, regular and timely attendance.
  • Completes forms, documents and reports in a legible and accurate manner.
  • Accurately compares, reads and records identification numbers up to “18” alpha and numeric series (i.e. Vehicle Identification Number, part numbers).
  • Works extended hours (potentially 10 hour days) andspurs of the moment overtime on a regular and irregular basis.
  • Repeated, regular and accurate input of information to computer. Constant computer input, generally for the entire shift, up to 8 hours a day on a regular basis.
  • Mentally recalls, tracks and accurately recounts work in progress and application of pertinent dealership’s information.
  • Accurate use and recording of dealership information.
  • Works cooperatively and courteously with a diverse and demanding population of co‑workers.
  • Works with more than one person and/or task simultaneously with continuous direct and indirect interruptions while maintaining a professional, cordial and friendly manner at all times.
  • Clearly and effectively communicates with diverse work group; performs frustration, anger and constant demands for work to be completed without internalizing.
  • Works in an indoors environment that regularly becomes dusty, receives some vehicle exhausts, and can be drafty due to constant foot traffic.
  • Extensive (generally 8 consecutive hours) sitting at a work desk doing data input.
  • Repeated, regular and extended phone use simultaneously with data input.
  • Focuses on required tasks, ignoring surrounding conversations and/or distractions.
  • Ability to maintain good employee relations by acting courteously and amicably towards other co‑workers.
