POSITION PURPOSE

Operators perform a variety of physical tasks to include operating the roller and other heavy equipment and machinery for applying asphalt products as defined by each job or project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate the Paver and other heavy equipment for paving projects/jobs.
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment and machinery.
  • Coordinate and work with contractors, sub‑contractors and vendors to complete the job.
  • Serve as front‑line company representative and provide excellent service to the customer and to the public.
  • Work on the ground as needed.
  • Work quickly, productively and safely to meet production goals set by the Foreman, Superintendent and/or Production Manager.
  • Follow direction of the Foreman and/or Superintendent regarding daily production schedule and activities.
  • Advocate safety and follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in job‑site and safety meetings and all company‑related training.
  • Work with Foreman or Crew Leader to ensure the job‑site is safe and traffic is controlled before commencing work.
  • Communicate effectively and stay in constant contact with other equipment operators, truck drivers and general laborers.

  • Report problems and malfunctioning equipment or machinery to supervisor and/or shop personnel.
  • Set up and tear down equipment.
  • Maintain a clean job site; pick up all tools and equipment and secure the site each day.
  • Use equipment and hand tools (e.g., rakes, shovels, wheel barrels, etc.).
  • Perform general laborer work as needed.
  • Any and all duties assigned.

  • This position is considered a safety‑sensitive position and is subject to the company’s drug and alcohol policy, as well as all OSHA regulations.
  • All employees must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all safety guidelines at all times.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Operate vehicles and trailers safely, complying with local, state, and federal traffic laws.
  • Operate equipment, machinery and tools in compliance with safety guidelines and manufacturer specifications.
  • Work outdoors for long periods in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment in a variety of situations.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift overhead.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines, and dust/debris.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year related experience is preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English is preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel to any and all job sites without exception.
  • Drivers:
    Must meet FMCSA English proficiency requirements under 49 CFR 391.11(b)(2).
  • All 10K-CMV and CDL drivers must complete and pass an English proficiency assessment.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
  • A current driver's license is preferred.
  • Must have a clean motor‑vehicle record if operating a company vehicle.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening and background check.
