The incumbent performs highly responsible administrative work at the direction of the Chairman, which includes planning, organizing a wide variety of tribal administrative functions and staff supervision. The Executive Assistant to the Chairman will coordinate meetings and projects with the different Tribal Department Directors; ensure meeting agendas and minutes are available; project progress reports timely; travel arrangements; meeting rooms are confirmed, and provides administrative support as requested.

- Tribal government operation, organizational structure, tribal officials, and their functions;
- Research statistical methods and techniques used in public administration;
- Ordinances, codes, and policies governing Tribal operations;
- Report preparation techniques;
- Public relations;
- English language, grammar, and punctuation;
- Yaqui communities and local/regional affairs and issues;
- Provide customer service;
- Manage and execute multiple tasks;
- Facilitate strategic, long-range planning activities;
- Analyze, evaluate, interpret planning principles, and practices;
- Develop and prepare a variety of business correspondence, records, reports, documents and forms;
- Public speaking and public relations;
- Analyze public policy issues from a variety of perspective;
- Present information clearly and in an interesting manner, both verbally and in writing, for various audiences;
- Identify and access resources for problem resolution;
- Collect, interpret, evaluate narrative and statistical data;
- Make independent judgments;
- Prepare and proofread a variety of reports and/or documentation;
- Work independently;
- Use discretion and judgment in dealing with confidential, sensitive, and controversial issues;
- Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Communications, Political Science, Business Administration or related field; plus five (5) years of professional administrative and management experience, preferably in a tribal setting; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;
