Senior Property Accountant
Position:
Senior Property Accountant at a commercial real estate investment and operating firm in Tucson, Arizona.
Salary: $75,000 - $95,000 per year
Job Type: Full-time
Work Location: In-person (Tucson, AZ)

The Senior Accountant will oversee all accounting operations for the firm and its associated real estate entities. Reporting directly to the Controller and upper management, the role ensures the accuracy of monthly financial statements, sophisticated cash management, and comprehensive property accounting.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Financial reporting:
Generate full‑cycle financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, journal entries, and comparative analysis. - Cash management:
Generate cash‑flow statements, monitor bank balances for all entities, and manage all internal and external transfers. - General ledger oversight:
Record expenses, accruals, pre‑paids, deposits; reconcile all balance sheets and general ledger accounts monthly. - Budgeting & analysis:
Establish annual budgets, compile financial reports for partners, and provide deep‑dive analysis of inconsistencies or specific transactions. - Accounts & payroll:
Oversee daily A/P, A/R, and company credit card reconciliations; process biweekly payroll, including benefits deposits to third‑party administrators. - Owner & partner relations:
Calculate fee splits, update tracking for payments received, generate invoices/checks for property management fees. - Investor support:
Work with owners and institutions to support investor reporting packages and communications. - Compliance & audit:
Lead coordination of year‑end tax preparation with external CPA firms and lead all annual audits. - Operational support:
Provide project‑based support to property managers and the property accounting team while enforcing GAAP rules and regulations.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field. - Experience:
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience. - Industry knowledge:
Prior experience in financial leadership within real estate development and/or property management strongly preferred. - Technical skills:
Proficiency in real estate accounting software (e.g., Yardi or MRI); advanced Microsoft Excel skills. - Attributes:
Strong collaborative spirit and the ability to interface directly with owners and external partners.
