Position SummaryPerform basic skilled tasks to maintain and repair a variety of electrical systems and equipment, including lighting, HVAC, kitchen appliances, and fire alarms, ensuring safe and functional operations. Perform duties under moderate supervision as an intermediate-level individual contributor.
EssentialJob Duties
- Complete routine and sometimes more robust tasks as assigned in a timely manner.
- Layout, assemble, install, test, maintain, service, and repair electrical systems, including lighting, fire alarms, bell and buzzer systems, field lighting systems, clock systems, and telephone systems, to ensure a safe and functional environment.
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs on motors, lights, fans, heaters, and other related devices to resolve electrical issues promptly.
- Respond to emergency calls for electrical issues.
- Provide adequate lighting and electricity for security purposes in classrooms and other areas as needed.
- Assist with HVAC system maintenance tasks as required.
- Replace defective parts in panels, control boards, switchboards, wall/floor/ceiling receptacles, meters, conduits, wires, and cables, ensuring continuous operation of all related equipment.
- Follow established standard operating procedures and systems to accomplish tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma with some additional continuing education through a certification program required.
- Associate degree with at least three (3) years of related experience required.
- Competency in general electrician tasks
- Knowledge of electrical systems and comprehensive electronic knowledge
- Knowledge of installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and materials used in buildings
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations affecting electrical codes and practices, including high-voltage safety
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical issues
- Ability to detect defects in equipment and make proper repairs or adjustments
- Understanding of relevant occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Ability to solve problems within defined parameters and under clearly established processes
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to follow clearly established procedures
- Constantly operates and inspects mechanical equipment.
- Constantly positions self to use, inspect, clean, or repair tools and machinery.
- Frequently remains in a stationary position.
- Frequently moves tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across the facility.
- Frequently operates a motor vehicle safely and legally, per applicable state and federal laws.
- Occasionally moves tools and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds across the manufacturing floor.
- Occasionally ascends/descends machinery and equipment to repair/service.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Constantly exposed to loud noise levels.
- Constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to mechanical oils, vibration, and risk of electrical shock.
