JOB SCOPE: The Sr. Functional Architect, HCM serves as the senior functional authority responsible for defining how Workday supports organizational strategy and business outcomes. This role owns the functional vision across Talent Acquisition, HCM, Compensation, Payroll, and Financials, ensuring cohesive, scalable, and future‑ready business process design. The architect partners closely with executive stakeholders and technical teams to translate business needs into optimized Workday solutions.
Job DescriptionJob Summary: The Sr. Functional Architect, HCM leads functional architecture, business process optimization, and system governance across the Workday platform. This role serves as a senior administrator that manages and optimizes the organization's Workday HCM system, acting as a strategic partner to HR, Payroll, IT, and Finance by configuring, maintaining, and enhancing modules across the platform. They troubleshoot complex issues, manage system security, and stay updated on Workday's roadmap to implement new features and maintain compliance.

Responsibilities- Leads end-to-end functional architecture for complex Workday implementations across HCM, Compensation, Talent Acquisition & Development, and Financials
- Designs, refines, and optimizes high-impact business processes with a focus on automation, usability, and industry best practices
- Ensures cross-functional alignment and scalability across all work streams
- Architect advanced reporting solutions using Prism Analytics, Discovery Boards, Insights, and Matrix Reporting
- Owns data validation reporting, leads data correction efforts, and designs strong data structures and conversion processes
- Leads Security Administration (design & governance) in Workday as well as edge solutions
- Defines leadership reporting packages using Workday, Prism, Snow Flake, Tableau, or Power BI
- Facilitates architect workshops and confirmation sessions with senior leaders to translate business needs into actionable Workday requirements
- Conducts configuration audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards and minimize rework
- Acts as a mentor to junior functional consultants, guiding complex configuration and solution design
- Owns the functional roadmap for bi-annual Workday releases, evaluating new features and AI-driven enhancements
- Bachelor's Degree
- Over 10 years of related experience
- License/certification in relevant field
- Up to 25% travel
- 18 years of age or older
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 10+ years in HR technology or financial systems
- Minimum of 5 years as a Workday Functional Lead or Architect
- Proven experience leading full lifecycle Workday implementations
- Strong working knowledge of EIBs, Workday Studio, Advanced Reporting, and Security Administration
- Workday Core HCM & Recruiting certifications with at least two sub-specialties (e.g., Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Talent)
- Exceptional ability to explain technical constraints to non-technical stakeholders and present strategic trade-offs to executive leadership
- Experience with SQL and data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake and Workday Prism
