Designers are accountable for all elements of a complete design package consisting of panel wiring diagrams, breaker and transformer connection drawings, panel fabrication drawings, wiring and cable lists, bill of materials, metering, and SCADA drawings. All assignments are reviewed for sound engineering practices and judgement.
Designers must have experience in Protection & Control to support capital projects.

Required Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate should have 3-4 years of experience with an electric power utility in Substation Protection & Control Design. The person should be familiar with one line or single line diagrams, AC and DC elementary diagrams in order to develop a design package consisting of panel wiring diagrams, breaker and transformer connection drawings, panel fabrication drawings, wiring and cable lists, bill of materials, metering and SCADA drawings.
They must be skilled in AutoCAD.
The contract designer should have an Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent years of utility experience in Protection & Control.
• Extensive knowledge of Protection & Control applications
• Electric power utility experience in substation design of voltage levels 46 kV and higher
• General knowledge of protective relaying and relaying applications
• Ability to interpret single-line, three-line and elementary wiring diagrams.
• Familiarity with major drawings and panel wiring diagrams.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience in relay setting applications and/or relay testing is not necessary but would be a plus.
