Position may become a hybrid role that after required in office training, may allow the candidate to work two to three days in the office (depending on departmental needs) and the remaining time in a remote capacity. TBD. As such, only local candidates will be considered.
SUMMARYThe GL Staff Accountant is responsible for all aspects of full-cycle, month-end closing and acts as the backup for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Duties may include but are not limited to preparing and posting journal entries, recording cash disbursements and cash receipts, balance sheet reconciliations, preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Apply knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to the preparation of journal entries and financial statements during the month-end close process.
- Analyze balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy; prepare balance sheet reconciliations with detailed explanations of account balances.
- Prepare and reconcile system uploads into the general ledger.
- Maintain fixed assets and related depreciation schedules.
- Responsible for any tasks necessary to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in maintaining storage and organization of records.
- Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries and subledger adjustments.
- Prepare and submit annual 1099 and 1042 forms.
- Assist with annual corporate tax return preparation.
- Assist with special accounting projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- BA/BS in Finance/Accounting or related field.
- 3-5 years accounting/finance or related experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and possess the ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Self-starter/pro-active, and a team player with the ability to meet goals and deadlines.
- Detail oriented and must work effectively and efficiently under time pressure.
- Candidate must have the ability to work with interruptions, strict deadlines, and minimal supervision.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook;
Sage 100 and Sage 50 (or other ERP preferred).
