Navajo Preference Employment Act
In accordance with Navajo Nation and federal law, TCRHCC has implemented an affirmative action plan pursuant to the Navajo Preference in Employment Act. Pursuant to this plan and corresponding TCRHCC policy, applicants who meet the necessary qualifications for this position and (1) are enrolled members of the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe, or San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe will be given preference in hiring and employment for this position, (2) are legally married to enrolled members of the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe, or San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe and meet residency requirements will be given secondary preference, and (3) are enrolled members of other federally recognized American Indian tribes will be given tertiary preference.
OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY
The Security Officer provides vigilant security services and excellent customer services to patients, visitors, and staff across Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC), including satellite clinics and the Kaibeto Creek Independent Living Center. Responsibilities include responding promptly to alarms, emergencies, and life‑threatening incidents with a focus on maintaining safety and security. The role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including overtime, weekends, evenings, and being on‑call for emergency callbacks.
QualificationsNECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS Education
High School Diploma or GED
ExperienceMust have six (6) months of experience with providing security services to a large organization, school, or health care facility. (Acceptable experience includes services in the armed services that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis.)
Certification- Must maintain and have a valid State Driver’s License with no restrictions
- Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) if none must obtain within ninety (90) days of employment hire date.
- Must have and maintain current Defensive Tactics certification; if none, must obtain within ninety (90) days of employment hire date.
- Must have and maintain current Handle with Care certification if none, must obtain within ninety (90) days of employment hire date.
- Must complete the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification for Security Officer within six (6) months of hire
Skills and Abilities
A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. All employment references must address and indicate success in each one of the following areas:
- The ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Have good judgement.
- Have an empathy‑led mindset.
- Good physical fitness and strength
- Ability to lift and drag 50 pounds.
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of healthcare environment, such as what threats and vulnerabilities are present.
- The ability to form strong working relationships with hospital staff.
- Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Possession of high ethical standards and no history of complaints and no record of felony or misdemeanor convictions for fraud or dishonesty; criminal background checks are mandatory; no record of complaints regarding “conflict of interest” related to prior or current employment.
- Completion of and, above‑satisfactory scores on all job interviews, demonstrating to the satisfaction of the interviewees and TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job
- Successful completion of and positive results from all background and reference checks, including positive employment references from authorized representatives of past and current employers demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC a record of satisfactory performance and that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job
