Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Case Manager with ED mental health expertise for a variable schedule role requiring a compact or AZ RN license and at least two years of emergency care management experience.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based role focused on the Emergency Department (ED) with mental health patient needs

• Serves diverse patient populations from newborn to geriatric with a wide range of care coordination cases including abuse, chronic pain, and frequent utilization

• Variable 10-hour day shifts from 7:00am to 5:30pm with weekend rotation and call responsibilities

• Involves assessment and management in ED, inpatient, and outpatient settings

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is required

• Role involves coordinating care with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, social workers, and interdisciplinary teams

• Responsibilities include evaluating ED patients for medical necessity, facilitating care transitions, discharge planning, and arranging outpatient resources with physician approval

• Involves identifying appropriate admission status and resource management across the care continuum

• Must participate in clinical guideline development and practice improvement initiatives

• Interaction with mental health patients to assess and facilitate appropriate resources

• Orientation provided every 2 weeks

• May request exemptions for COVID and flu vaccines with completion of declination form

• Must complete fingerprinting process prior to start

• Shared contractor housing available but not guaranteed; no pets or family allowed in hospital housing

Requirements

• Active RN license in AZ or Compact state, valid in any U.S. state or territory

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association

• Associate degree in Nursing required

• Minimum 2 years recent care/case management experience in the Emergency Department

• At least 2 years of direct patient care experience in hospital, home health, or skilled nursing settings

• At least 1 year of previous travel nursing experience

• Willingness to obtain Case Manager Certification (CCM or ACM) within 2 years if not already held
