Overview
POSITION SUMMARY
The Telemetry Monitoring Technician is responsible for interpretation, documentation, and continuous observation of patient’s cardiac rhythms who are on continuous cardiac monitoring or Telemetry, admitted in all Nursing care units. Maintains established process and steps while performing analysis of EKG strips and understands process flow for reporting changes in cardiac rhythm.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONSEducation: High school diploma or GED
Certification/ Licensure:
- Must complete National Telemetry and National EKG course from the National Telemetry Association and obtain certification within three (3) months upon hire. Certification must remain unexpired and in good standing, for the duration of employment.
- Must maintain a current valid certification of the following throughout employment:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

:

- Successful completion of fingerprint clearance requirements, physical examinations, and other screenings indicating that the applicant is qualified to be employed by TCRHCC and demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job
- Submission of all required employment-related documents, applications, resumes, references, and other required information free of false, misleading, or incomplete information, as determined by TCRHCC.

Physical: This position is sedentary to active and requires prolonged sitting when observing telemetries, standing, walking, bending, reaching with hands and arms, pushing, or pulling. May lift up to 10 pounds in the work area. Must have the following vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear alarms on equipment, calls and instructions from physicians or department staff.
This position involves repetitive use of both feet, both hands and ability to grasp simple/light and the ability of fine dexterity in both hands. May require long hours and frequent weekend work.
Mental: Must be able to prioritize and use good judgment. Must be able to coordinate a variety of issues while being frequently interrupted. Must communicate effectively and with tact in stressful situations.
