Navajo Preference Employment Act
In accordance with Navajo Nation and federal law, TCRHCC has implemented an Affirmative Action Plan pursuant to the Navajo Preference in Employment Act. OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Optometrist is responsible for providing eye care to patients at the Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) service unit (includes Tuba City & Sacred Peaks facilities).
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
- Doctor of Optometry Degree (OD) from an accredited school.
- Must hold a therapeutic pharmaceutical level optometry license.
- Must have completed an accredited optometry residency
License:
Must possess and maintain a current and unrestricted license to practice as an optometrist in any state within the United States, District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Experience:
Must be proficient in the diagnosis and management of common ocular diseases including conjunctival and corneal disease, anterior uveitis, retinal vascular disease (including diabetic ocular complications), optic nerve disease (including glaucoma), retinal degenerations (including macular degeneration), retinal tears and detachments, as well as routine comprehensive eye exams.
Credentialing:
Must be a credentialed member of the Medical Staff by meeting the criteria for Credentialing and Privileging in accordance by TCRHCC Medical Staff Bylaws.

PhysicalSome physical exertion such as long periods of sitting working at the computer, standing, walking, bending, maintaining balance, reaching, and occasional climbing, kneeling, crouching, and twisting are abilities required for this position. Position also requires the ability of recurring lifting of light to moderately heavy items, such as books, papers, equipment, pushing patients in wheelchairs or transferring patients between chairs is required.
Must be able to lift up to 34lbs and push and pull up to 50lbs. Must have ability of simple grasping, firm grasping, fine manipulation and use of keyboards. Sensory requirements include far vision, near vision, color vision, depth perception, seeing fine details, hearing normal speech, hearing overhead pages and telephone use. Long work hours may also be required.
The clinical optometrist must possess and demonstrate a broad knowledge of visual disorders, ocular diseases and related systemic disease and appropriate therapy and/or referral for said conditions. Must have ability to continually concentrate, handle high degree of flexibility, handle multiple priorities in stressful situation, work in areas that are close and crowded, occasionally cope with high levels of stress, make decisions under high pressure, cope with anger/fear/hostility of others in a calm way, manage altercations, work alone, and adapt to shift work.
Must accept a flexible schedule to meet unit needs.
Daily performance of duties has an impact on the overall quality of service provided to the customers of TCRHCC Service Unit.
