Department Overview
The Oncology Clinical Social Worker supports adult cancer patients and their support people at OHSU’s Community Hematology Oncology (CHO) clinics throughout the Portland Metro area. The role involves psychosocial assessment, resource referral, advocacy, and brief evidence‑based counseling in clinic, infusion, virtual, and telephone settings. The OCSW may consult with the outpatient Palliative Care team, attend tumor boards, clinic staff meetings, and care rounds.
Individuals are expected to cross‑cover for CHO social work colleagues during absences and may also provide support to patients hospitalized at partnering hospitals (Legacy and Adventist).
