JAE Oregon, Inc. is hiring for an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer. We are a global manufacturer of Automotive Connectors located in Tualatin, Oregon. The ideal candidate will have5+ years of experience in Controls design, PLC Programming, HMI Programming, and design of vision systems for manufacturing equipment.
SUMMARYThe Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, upgrading, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment and systems, with a focus on the equipment controls. This position works closely with the Engineering and Maintenance staff and requires a high level of understanding of PLC programming, vision systems design, electrical engineering, and equipment troubleshooting.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Create modify, update, and optimize PLC programs for manufacturing equipment, both existing and new, to increase up time, throughput, and overall OEE. Experience with Mitsubishi, Keyence, Omron, Micro-Logix, and Allen Bradley preferred.
- Create, modify, update, and optimize HMI programs for manufacturing equipment, both existing and new, to increase up time, throughput, and overall OEE. Experience with Proface, Keyence, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Greyline, and Wonderware preferred.
- Create, modify, update, and optimize vision systems/programs for manufacturing equipment, both existing and new, to increase quality, customer satisfaction, and overall OEE. Experience with Cognex, Keyence, Omron, PPT, and DVT preferred.
- Monitors, identifies, specifies, and upgrades legacy equipment components (motors, drives, HMI’s, PLC’s, and other related electrical components), that put the organization talls current and sustainable control solutions.
- Manage and maintain all software/cabling for equipment controls, including above mentioned systems and all other equipment devices (OEE devices, laser markers, servo drives, robots, vision sensors, etc.).
- Modify, and update all electrical schematics, where applicable, for all manufacturing equipment/systems.
- Create, modify, and update all electrical components/systems, for all manufacturing equipment.
- Designs, specifies, and installs control systems and components for new equipment and new systems.
- Provide electrical engineering support and/or repair for all manufacturing and facility equipment.
- Creates applicable documentation (schematics, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, illustrations, etc.) for revised or newly created equipment/systems.
- Supports and/or performs DOE’s and other engineering trials, where applicable.
- Complies with Company and area safety policies and practices.
- Supports the training programs throughout the departments.
- Supports and fosters active participation in, and complies with, corporate values as outlined in the Corporate Values and Expectations Handbook and complies with the Management Systems Manual.
- Supports other company activities where requested.
- Awareness of job related environmental impacts.
This position performs semi-routine and moderately complex activities under limited supervision. The EC Engineer applies established electrical engineering practices and procedures and contributes to the development of new concepts/systems. Errors could have a significant impact on production safety, product quality, production reliability and efficiency, work processes, and customer and supplier relations.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE- Three to five years’ experience in controls design, PLC Programming, HMI programming, and design of vision systems for manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Fundamental understanding of both electrical and mechanical design concepts as applicable to machine design.
- Familiarity with applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Computer proficiency required, ability to use MS Office Suite.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings schematics, sketches and written instruction.
- Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) license preferred.
- Ability to maintain composure in the midst of crisis.
- Ability to allocate, adjust and manage resources according to daily priorities
- Ability to measure effectiveness and performance to ensure satisfactory results are attained.
- Ability to show enthusiasm for assignments to seek new skills and knowledge.
- Working Understanding of ISO
