Job Summary

Pacific Northern Environmental, LLC consists of five divisions including Advanced Electrical Technologies (AET), Taurus Power and Controls (Taurus), Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS), Pacific Northern Environmental Construction (PNEC), and Waste Xpress Environmental (WXE). Together, we specialize in commercial and petroleum construction, industrial and commercial electrical, industrial cleaning, and hazardous waste disposal. PNE LLC is a multi-state organization with operating offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii, with multiple job sites across the US.

Since 1985, Taurus has been designing control systems, automating tasks, and fabricating control panels for industrial, municipal, and commercial customers on time and on budget. Taurus is a NETA Accredited Company offering full-service, third party, independent testing for all electrically powered systems and equipment. As a 24/7 field service company, we remain at the core of what we do, with expertise in a wide array of systems and industries.

The Automation Technician is responsible for performing start-up and testing services on Instrumentation, VFDs, Emergency Lighting Inverters, PLCs and other industrial control equipment.

Education and Experience Qualifications
  • Previous employment involving troubleshooting of industrial devices required.
  • AAS Degree in Instrumentation, mechatronics, industrial electronics, industrial controls or 1+ years experience in any of the previously mentioned fields required.
  • Understanding hazards around electrical circuits.
  • Customer relation and communication skills, report writing, self-starter mentality.
  • Familiarity and experience working on any of the following equipment:
    • VFDs
    • PLCs
    • DC Drives
    • Instrumentation (Flow sensors/meters, Level sensors/meters, etc…)
    • UPSs, battery systems, lighting inverters
Duties and Responsibilities

The Automation Technician possessing the education and experience listed above performs the following:

  • Perform start-up and testing services on Instrumentation, VFDs, Emergency Lighting Inverters, PLCs and other industrial control equipment
  • Identify problems and troubleshoot failures in the above mentioned items
  • Work independently when required
  • Flexibility in working hours: typically 8am – 5pm, with occasional after-hours and weekend work; overtime hours available
  • Have reliable transportation to travel to and from office or a customer site
  • Flexibility to travel to out-of-area jobs for up to two weeks. Most work is local, but occasional site work may occur in Oregon, Washington, or Idaho
  • Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions and

Physical Requirements

The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:

  • Move about the jobsite as needed
  • Move work related equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Remain in a stationary position for long periods
  • Operate various technological devices, including a computer
  • Occasionally ascend/descend ladders and/or stairs
